Client Feature: Marine Contractors Logo and Web Design
Logo design isn’t always the first thing that comes to mind when entrepreneurs start a new business. Sometimes it comes a little later. Or, in other cases, the company wants to highlight it’s growth and position as an industry leader through a redesign of their current logo.
Marine Contractors came to us late last year looking for a new logo identity and website. In business since 1989, this would be a major change for the company. We started things off by asking some general questions in regards their likes/dislikes in terms logo design and trying to get some inspiration from them to create a clear picture of what they were looking for.
They wanted to keep the logo centered around their initials(MCI for Marine Contractors Inc.). Marine also had logo colors in mind. This meant we had some great starting points and began to work on concepts right away.
The logo needed to be versatile, recognizable and professional. It would need to look appropriate and at home on everything from a letterhead to a dump truck. In the end I think we certainly achieved that.
Once the logo was finalized we were able to dive right into the website development. The site needed to highlight the different types of work they do and projects they’ve worked on. Luckily they had a great library of images we were able to pull from featuring a diverse selection of work completed over the past few years. Using their images we created a website that showcases a number of their services as well as the company’s staff members hard at work.
Stock photography certainly plays a role in website design and other marketing initiatives, but it’s always helpful when the client can provide us with images to work with.
We also included a resume uploader to assist potential employees when applying for work with Marine. This unique feature was something the company specifically asked for as they continue to grow and the number applications they receive continues to increase.
This project clearly shows that even established businesses can update their brand and develop an online presence that matches their position in their industry.
